Assistant Chief of Police - David ValliantASSISTANT CHIEF OF POLICE

Assistant Chief Valliant began his law enforcement career with the Rockwall Police Department in 1995. While a Patrol Officer, he held the role of Officer In Charge (OIC), Field Training Officer (FTO), and Accident Investigator (AI). He worked in patrol until 2002 when he was assigned to the Community Services Division as a School Resource Officer (SRO).


In 2004, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and has supervised in Patrol, the Criminal Investigations Division and Narcotics. In 2012 he promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he commanded the Patrol, Administrative Services and Criminal Investigations Divisions. In 2020, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and in 2023, he was made Assistant Chief.


Assistant Chief Valliant earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University-Commerce. In addition, he holds a Master Peace Officer Certification and is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute for Police, the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration (ILEA) Command College and recipient of the FBI LEEDA (Law Enforcement Executive Development Association) Trilogy Award.
