Crime Scene Unit

The Crime Scene Unit was formed in 2008 and is made up of six officers and one detective. Officers volunteer to partake in this assignment on top of their normal duties. Members of the Crime Scene Unit are available to assist 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Crime Scene Unit is responsible for assisting in criminal investigations by effectively documenting, collecting and analyzing photographs, latent prints and other physical evidence present at crime scenes and other locations. They also help recognize, handle, preserve, and package physical evidence.

Members of the Crime Scene Unit receive advanced forensic training from state and federal agencies in forensic disciplines which include crime scene reconstruction, photography, fingerprinting, biological evidence preservation and collection, crime scene diagramming and the use of alternate light source technology.
